The fairgrounds originally opened in 1891 as a horse racing track named Cumberland Park. [2] The park became the home of the Tennessee State Fair in 1906 and was purchased by the Davidson County government (later Metro) in 1910. [3] At that state fair, on June 22, 1910, attendees witnessed the first night-time airplane flight.
According to the 2010 census, Nashville has a total area of 2.809 square miles (7.28 km 2), of which 2.72 square miles (7.04 km 2) (or 96.83%) is land and 0.089 square miles (0.23 km 2) (or 3.17%) is water. [5] Nashville is located on Nashville Creek, at the headwaters of Little Crooked Creek, which flows northwest into the Kaskaskia River.

The Moraine View State Recreation Area is a state park operated by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of the U.S. state of Illinois. The 1,687 acre (6.7 km 2) recreation area is located near Le Roy, Illinois. The predecessor of Moraine View, the McLean County Conservation Area, traces its history to 1959.
