Birdville High School (BHS) is a public high school located in the city of North Richland Hills, Texas and is the second newest school in the Birdville Independent School District (second to Walker Creek Elementary). Established in 1999, it was the third high school built into the Birdville Independent School District.
Richland High School opened in 1961 as the second high school in the Birdville Independent School District. [3] The school mascot is a blue and red lion. The emblem was changed in 2020 [4] due to its controversial emblem.
The Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning (BCTAL) is a magnet school in the Birdville Independent School District, [2] located in North Richland Hills, Texas. BCTAL offers students of Haltom High School, Richland High School, and Birdville High School courses in career and technology.
Originally known as Birdville Academy when it opened in 1858, Haltom High School was named Birdville High School when Birdville ISD was incorporated in 1926. [4] It was the only high school in the district until Richland High School opened in the fall of 1961.
In 1882, Birdville's first public school was established, and the Birdville Independent School District was established in 1896. The former area of Birdville was subsequently annexed by Haltom City in the latter part of the 20th century. [2] [3]
