Parker Pond is a pond located in the towns of Fayette, Mount Vernon, Chesterville, and Vienna, Maine. Relatively undeveloped, and one of the major bodies of water in the Winthrop Lakes Region, it is 76 feet (23 m) deep, and covers about 2.5 square miles (6 km 2) in surface area. Boat access is gained via an undeveloped launch at the north end.
It was developed as a summer sporting camp in the mid-1910s, with the construction of four cabins just south of the lodge. By 1922 additional cabins had been built, and the dining hall was also added about 1922. Later facilities include an employee cabin, wood shed, and toolhouse (by 1938) and the stable (1956).
Winthrop is included in the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan New England city and town area. The population was 6,121 at the 2020 census . [ 4 ] Winthrop's population, however, approximately doubles during the summer months as part-year residents return to seasonal camps located on the shores of Winthrop's Lakes and Ponds.

Parker Sydnor was a stone carver who lived in the area of Cabin Point, Virginia, residing in the log cabin during the 1930s and 1940s. He worked for more than 40 years at his craft, and many African Americans came to him to have gravestones made for their deceased loved ones. Significantly, Sydnor was both literate and an expert stone carver. [5]
