Wilton is home to the High Mowing School, a private preparatory school. The main village in town, where 1,324 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as the Wilton census-designated place and is located near the junction of New Hampshire Routes 31 and 101, at the confluence of Stony Brook with the Souhegan River.

This two story wood-frame house was probably built in the 1760s, and significantly altered in the late 19th century. The property includes a c. 1840 barn, a c. 1900 carriage house that has been converted into a garage, and a small c. 1900 ice house.
