Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) (Arabic: جامعة السلطان قابوس) is a public university located in al-Seeb, Oman. Established in 1986, it is one of the two public universities in the country and is named after Qaboos bin Said al-Said , the Sultan of Oman from 1970 until 2020.

In October 2005, Singh wrote in The Guardian that UAS was established in "over 50 university departments, mainly mathematics, science and engineering, with more coming on board each year." [ 3 ] In the 2007–2008 academic year, involvement had risen to 107 university departments, with 750 undergraduate participants.
University Air Squadrons (UAS), [1] are Royal Air Force training units under the command of No. 6 Flying Training School RAF. [2] That offers training and flight training to university students, with the goal of attracting students into a career as an RAF officer after university.
Hull UAS was formed at RAF Driffield, but flew out of Leconfield and Brough. With the amalgamation of the two squadrons in 1969, flying was retained at RAF Leconfield for students from Hull University. [5] [6] As a formed squadron, YUAS first flew from RAF Church Fenton between 1969 and 1975.
The UAS office is located at the National Design Centre in Middle Road, amidst the arts and heritage precinct of Bras Basah Bugis. UAS commenced its inaugural intake in August 2024 and confers degrees as Singapore's 7th University.
