DeKalb (/ d ɪ ˈ k æ l b / dih-KALB) is a city in DeKalb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 40,290 at the 2020 census . The city is named after decorated Franconian -French war hero Johann de Kalb , who died during the American Revolutionary War .

The DuPage Valley Conference (DVC) is an organization of six high schools in northeastern Illinois, representing seven communities in Chicago's suburbs. These high schools are all members of the Illinois High School Association. The Conference, organized in 1975, exists primarily for inter-school athletic competition in 21 sports.
WLBK broadcasts a mix of news/talk and adult contemporary music formats to DeKalb County, Illinois, and surrounding communities, and was an affiliate of ABC News Radio as of 2023. [ 3 ] In season, WLBK broadcasts local high school football , the Chicago White Sox ( MLB ), Chicago Bulls ( NBA ), and Chicago Bears ( NFL ).
