The General Motors Open was a golf tournament on the Southern Africa Tour from 1966 to 1975. The event was held at Wedgewood Golf Club in Port Elizabeth, [1] South Africa. Gary Player won the event four times. It was also the site of Peter Oosterhuis ' first professional victory.
Activities include swimming, guided nature walks, golf, dune boarding, canoeing, fishing, mini-golf, and spa treatments. There is a golf course designed by Gary Player and rated in the top 30 golf courses in South Africa. [10] Old Woman's River runs through the course. The course has hosted some large events including the Africa Open in 2008.
Goodyear Classic. The Goodyear Classic was a golf tournament on the South African Tour from the 1984 to 1992. It was generally held in December but in the 1989/1990 season it was held in February. The event was held at Humewood Golf Club in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. [1]
