Brazos County (/ ˈ b r æ z ə s / ⓘ BRAZ-əs) is a county in the U.S. state of Texas.As of the 2020 census, its population was 233,849. [1] [2] The county seat is Bryan. [3]Along with Brazoria County, the county is named for the Brazos River, which forms its western border.
As a result of redistricting after the 2020 Federal census, from the 2022 elections the district encompasses all but the eastern portion of Brazos County. Major cities in the district include the majority of Bryan and College Station. [2] Texas A&M University is in the district.

Kurten is located in northern Brazos County along U.S. Route 190. It is 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Bryan and 26 miles (42 km) southwest of Madisonville . The town has a total area of 4.6 square miles (12.0 km 2 ), of which 4.6 square miles (11.8 km 2 ) is land and 0.077 square miles (0.2 km 2 ), or 1.38%, is water.

A 2004 report by Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn was very critical of the Texas foster care system. [10] A follow-up statement with continued criticisms of the Texas foster care system was made in 2006 by the Comptroller and renewed a request to have the governor create a Family and Protective Services Crisis Management Team. Moseley's Ferry operated here in the 1860s. The Stone City community was founded as a terminus on the Hearne and Brazos Valley Railway in 1892. A post office was established at Stone City that year and remained in operation until 1919.
