The Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) is a 170-mile (274 km) long-distance hiking trail that forms a loop around the Lake Tahoe Basin in the Sierra Nevada and ranges of Nevada and California in the United States. [1] The trail ranges in elevation from 6,223 feet (1,897 m) at the outlet of Lake Tahoe to 10,338 feet (3,151 m) at Relay Peak in Nevada.
Among the area's multiple trails are the Flume Trail, which has views of Lake Tahoe, and a portion of the Tahoe Rim Trail. The area encompasses Marlette Lake and Hobart Reservoir, which were created to feed the Marlette Lake Water System during the area's early mining and logging years. Remnants of abandoned mills can be seen.
Here the hiker may also access the Tahoe Rim Trail. The Ophir Creek Trail begins on boardwalks through the verdant, subalpine Tahoe Meadows then descends 3.3 miles (5.3 km) to Upper Price Lake. From here hikers can reclimb the 1,600 feet (490 m) descent or continue down another 4.7 miles (7.6 km) to the trailhead at the bottom in Davis Creek ...

South Dakota State Parks and recreation areas range in size from the 19-acre Sandy Shore Recreation Area to the 71,000-acre Custer State Park. It was the first park established in the system, in 1919. Good Earth State Park at Blood Run is the most recent park, added in 2013. System-wide visitation in 2016 was 7,500,000. [1]
