Atlantic Theater Company is an Off-Broadway non-profit theater. [1] The company was founded in 1985 by David Mamet, William H. Macy, and 30 of their acting students from New York University, inspired by the historical examples of the Group Theatre and Stanislavski. The theater is currently led by Artistic Director Neil Pepe. [2]
The show premiered at the Atlantic Theater Company on November 17, 2023, and played until January 28, 2024, extending twice from the original end date due to high ticket sales and critical acclaim. [7] The show was nominated for three Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations, and Best New Off-Broadway Musical.
After its initial run through February 10, 2008 it was transferred to the Bleecker Street Theater. Almost an Evening began previews March 20, 2008 and ran through June 1, 2008. [ 2 ] The commercial run is the first partnership with Art Meets Commerce and the Atlantic Theater Company.
The play had its world premiere in 2016, opening on March 14 at Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater starring Timothy Olyphant and directed by Neil Pepe. [3] The play will have a off-Broadway revival at the Lucille Lortel Theatre starring Adam Driver and will run from September 24, 2024 to December 22.
