The Beacon Lodge is an apartment building in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.Located at 30 Douglas Street, the building is directly across from the start of the Trans-Canada Highway, and just down the street from the Beacon Drive-In.
The Spanish and British took up the exploration of the northwest coast, beginning with the visits of Juan Pérez in 1774, and of James Cook in 1778. Although the Victoria area of the Strait of Juan de Fuca was not explored until 1790, Spanish sailors visited Esquimalt Harbour (just west of Victoria proper) in 1790, 1791, and 1792.
Victoria emerged as a tourist destination beginning in the mid-to-late 1920s. The Empress in August 1930, years after the hotel's expansion in 1928 The hotel was built between 1904 and 1908, opening for service in that year and named for Queen Victoria , who was also Empress of India. [ 14 ]

For instance, James Bay which is surrounded on three sides by the ocean, is typically 3 to 5 degrees Celsius (5 to 10 °F) cooler in summer than more inland areas of Victoria. In winter, James Bay is typically a few degrees warmer than other parts of Victoria.
The Greater Victoria region has a combined population of 397,237 according to the 2021 Canadian census. [2] The region comprises two of the fifteen most populous municipalities in British Columbia (Saanich, at number seven, and Victoria at number thirteen). The Canadian census ranks Greater Victoria as the 12th largest population centre in Canada.
