The 1884 building originally had 4 floors, but was later lowered and only had 2 floors. The third high school, was Lash High School, in 1908, which became the new Hancock Junior High School in 1953 when the 4th Zanesville opened in 1953. In 2010 the 5th high school was built right atop where he 1953 building was originally located.

The district was founded in 1970, consolidated from Buckeye Local Schools, Belle Center Schools, and Logan Hills Schools. The school district is named after Benjamin Logan (1742–1802), an American pioneer, politician, and general of the Virginia militia.
In return for his service to the United States, in 1802, the United States Congress granted Isaac Zane three tracts totalling 1,920 acres (7.8 km 2) in Champaign County, Ohio [4] [5] (see Zane's Tracts#Isaac Zane Tracts). In 1803, he was elected as one of the first trustees of Jefferson Township.
