  2. Possible causes for elevated kappa & kappa-lambda ratio?

    myelomabeacon.org/forum/possible-causes-for-elevated-kappa-kappa-lambda-ratio...

Impaired kidney function also causes slightly higher-than-normal kappa-lambda ratios. However, a ratio of 12, and the fact that the result is part of a trend and your husband does not have kidney problems, suggests that the ratio is due to the disease, rather than some alternative cause.

  3. IgG kappa monoclonal band - does it mean myeloma? - The Myeloma...

Yes, you have an out-of-range free light chain ratio based on the standard "normal" range for the kappa-lambda free light chain ratio. However, because you have kidney impairment, your doctor really should be looking at a different "normal" range for the ratio, which is 0.37 - 3.10 instead of the usual 0.26 - 1.65.

  4. What is a high kappa free light chain level? - myelomabeacon.org

Irankin Normal levels of serum free light chains are: Kappa - 3.3-19.4 mg/L, or 0.33-1.94 mg/dL Lambda - 5.71-26.3 mg/L, or 0.57-2.63 mg/dL Kappa/lambda ratio - 0.26-1.65 (You have to pay attention to units with free light chain results. The test results we got from my husband's oncologist list a normal reference range for free kappa light ...

  5. How to reduce kappa-lambda free light chain ratio?

    myelomabeacon.org/forum/reduce-kappa-lambda-free-light-chain-ratio-t5616.html

Hi shyam, Just to follow up briefly on what Ron wrote, the way to get your father's light chain numbers under control is to effectively treat his myeloma. For someone with multiple myeloma, free light chain numbers that are persistently out of the normal range are a sign that the disease is active. If someone has smoldering multiple myeloma and ...

  6. Low lambda, high kappa/lambda ratio in IgA kappa myeloma

    myelomabeacon.org/forum/low-lambda-high-kappa-lambda-ratio-iga-kappa-myeloma-t...

As Cheryl G excellently described in this forum posting, the Hevylite assay measures a patient's levels of each of the 10 different heavy-chain / light-chain immunoglobulin isotypes (IgG kappa, IgG lambda, IgA kappa, IgA lambda, etc.). So, in Mrozdav's case, it would be able to say whether her IgA kappa – her "involved" isotype – is elevated.

  7. Question about Kappa light chain ratio - myelomabeacon.org

Ive had two Auto SCTs in Sept 2010 and March 2011 and have been in a complete remission for 2 years. Last week, my dr advised me that my bloodwork looks perfect but my kappa light chain ratio has slightly risen to above normal levels, even though no m spike is detected and my iga is normal. Any idea would is going on?

  8. High kappa-lambda ratio, no M-spike: is it myeloma?

    myelomabeacon.org/forum/high-kappa-lambda-ratio-no-m-spike-t9307.html

It would be surprising with such a high kappa-lambda ratio for the elevated kappa result to be due to excess polyclonal (normal) kappa free light chain production. Thus, with such an elevated kappa free light chain level, one would think that the serum immunofixation test would report back that at least monoclonal kappa proteins were found.

  9. High kappa free light chain level & kappa-lambda ratio

    myelomabeacon.org/forum/high-kappa-free-light-chain-level-kappa-lambda-ratio-t...

Free kappa light chains 699.1 mg/L HIGH. Free lambda light chains 4.2 mg/L. Kappa/lambda ratio 166.45 HIGH. Next week I'm scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy and have already had a bone scan, but am not sure how to interpret the bone scan results. If anyone has any thoughts on these figures I'd certainly appreciate some input.

  10. Kappa & lambda free light chains elevated (but normal ratio)

    www.myelomabeacon.org/forum/kappa-lambda-free-light-chains-elevated-normal...

Hi Multibilly, At diagnosis I recall my kappa free light chain level being 6500 mg/dl. I don't know what my lambda level was, but was told it was within the normal range, but my ratio was elevated. After one cycle of cyclophosphamide, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (CTD), my kappa had reduced to 2200, second cycle 890, third cycle 420 and ...

  11. Significance of Kappa / Lambda ratio - myelomabeacon.org

    myelomabeacon.org/forum/topic2151.html

Hence, it is important to look at both kappa and lambda values, and their ratios. In patients with light chain only myeloma, this assay is particularly important. Serum kappa or lambda light chain, and the kappa/lambda does normalize / decrease in response to treatment.
