National Defense University (Turkish: Milli Savunma Üniversitesi) is a military university established in 2016 and primarily located in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. The university education and training started with the ceremony held on 12 February 2017 at the Air Force Academy. [1] It is a continuation of the Turkish War Academies.
On September 17, 1954, the Air Force Academy was moved to İzmir due to the inadequacies in Eskişehir. In 1955 flight training was moved back to the period after the initial two-year academic education and the number of trainees was increased from 68 to 136. 1955 saw the most numbers of cadets, with 429 cadets enrolled in 1955.
