St. Charles Towne Center is a two-level, enclosed shopping mall in the planned community of St. Charles in Waldorf, Maryland. Built in the late 1980s, it covers an area of 980,418 sq ft (91,083.8 m 2 ), and is currently the only regional mall in Southern Maryland .

St. Charles is a planned community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is 22 miles (35 km) south-southeast of Washington, D.C., 24 miles (39 km) from northern Virginia and immediately south of Waldorf, which is the mailing address. (St. Charles comprises nearly all the population of Waldorf's zip code 20602, and much of 20603).
Waldorf is part of the water supply and sanitary service areas managed by Charles County's Department of Public Works, which operates more than 950 miles of water and sewer lines. Charles County was created in 1658 by an Order in Council.There was also an earlier Charles County from 1650 to 1654, sometimes referred to in historic documents as Old Charles County, [6] [7] [8] which consisted largely of lands within today's borders but "included parts of St. Mary’s, Calvert, present-day Charles, and Prince George’s County".
