Uig (Scottish Gaelic: Ùige) is a village at the head of Uig Bay on the west coast of the Trotternish peninsula on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. [1] In 2011 it had a population of 423. [ 2 ]

Sligachan Hotel. Sligachan is situated at the junction of the roads from Portree, Dunvegan, and Broadford. The hotel was built at this road junction around 1830. Portree (/ p ɔːr ˈ t r iː /; Scottish Gaelic: Port Rìgh, pronounced [pʰɔrˠʃt̪ˈɾiː]) is the capital [2] and largest town of the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. [3] It is a civil parish and lies within the Highland council area , around 74 miles (119 km) from its administrative centre of Inverness .

A twenty-five-minute ride by the car and passenger ferry connects the island with Sconser on Skye. There is a primary school, but older students go to Portree High School by the ferry and bus.
