Cherokee High School is one of six public high schools of the Cherokee County School District in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. It is located in Canton . Established in 1956, it replaced Canton High School, the county's first high school.
The school was known as simply Cherokee High School until the opening of the 210,000 square feet (20,000 m 2) "South" building in September 2001 for 1,150 students in grades 9–10, which was constructed at a cost of $26.4 million (equivalent to $45.4 million in 2023), at which time the original building was renamed as "Cherokee High School North."
The schools are a K-5 elementary school, a 6-8 middle school, and a 9-12 high school (Cherokee High School). [1] The Ravensford Campus, the academic campus, occupies much of the historic Ravensford archaeological site. [2] In 1987–88, the elementary school was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. [3]
Cherokee High School has been notable for its sports teams through the years. Bud Mills (1950-1973, 1989), is a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.Mills had a career record of 152-81-4 during 25 years as a head coach.

The Oaks Academy is a middle-high alternative school in Murphy. The school was located at the former Marble Elementary School until 2023 when it moved to the Cherokee County Schools of Innovation.

Cherokee High School was founded in 1980 after the Hawkins County Board of Education had determined in the mid-1970s that it would be more cost effective for the school system to construct and operate two comprehensive high schools rather than the four community-based high schools it was then operating.
