ACHA Men's Division 1 comprises 72 teams as of the 2023–2024 season. Some of these teams also compete against NCAA Hockey D1 and D3 Schools throughout the pre-season in informal exhibition games. Nine conferences and Independent teams compete annually for the Murdoch Cup, which is awarded to the Men's ACHA Division 1 National Champion.

The Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League (ACCHL) is a non-NCAA collegiate ice hockey league in the mid-atlantic and southeast regions of the United States.The Mission of the ACC Hockey League is to provide student-athletes an option to compete in organized intercollegiate ice hockey without the high expenses of NCAA level hockey.
In 2014, the University of New Hampshire became the first SECHL team to win an ACHA Division II national championship when it defeated Florida Gulf Coast University, 5-3. [1] UNH earned wins against Northern Arizona University and Grand Valley State University, and lost to Liberty University in pool play.
At the 2024 ACHA Division II National Tournament, Indiana & Miami became the first two teams from the conference to advance to the National Championship as Indiana won the game in Overtime. 2017: Ohio (SE #4) finished 0–3 in Pool A; lost to William Paterson (NE #1) 6–3, Grand Valley State (Central #2) 3–0 & UNLV (West #3) 3–1.
The MACHA Silver Division has sent several teams to the ACHA Division 3 National Tournament the past few years. The most notable finish was Iowa State in 2012. After the 2008 season, Saint Louis University departed to play at the ACHA Division II level. At the conclusion of the 2009–2010 season, Eastern Michigan University , Michigan–Dearborn, and Western Michigan University left to join the new Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League . [ 2 ]
