Marist opened its doors in September 1954, with Brother Leo Sylvius serving as the school's first principal. Founded by the Marist Brothers in 1930, it used to work as elementary and middle school, but in 1960 it also added high school to it services. Due to increased demand, in 1971 "Centro Universitario Montejo" was created to receive the middle and high school students, so "Colegio Montejo" ended as an Elementary School only.
