La Libre Belgique (French pronunciation: [la libʁ bɛlʒik]; lit. ' The Free Belgium ' ), currently sold under the name La Libre , is a quality French-language Belgian daily newspaper . Together with Le Soir , it is one of the most popular Francophone newspapers in both Brussels and Wallonia .
In total, 85 issues of La Libre Belgique de Peter Pan were produced during the occupation, with the circulation of between 10,000 and 30,000 copies. [2] It was one of the largest and most influential of the Belgian underground newspapers that appeared in the same period.
The Cité de l'Enfance is a former orphanage built in 1938 on a wooded area of more than 5 hectares. It is composed of about twenty buildings in red and ochre brick under a flat roof. [ 30 ] Large rectangular bays with white sandstone frames illuminate the living rooms. [ 31 ]
At its peak, the clandestine newspaper La Libre Belgique was relaying news within five to six days; faster than the BBC's French-language radio broadcasts, whose coverage lagged several months behind events. Compared to its centre-right Catholic competitor, La Libre Belgique, Le Soir is seen as liberal and progressive with politically federalist leanings. Reaffirmed on the occasion of the release of the new format on 15 November 2005, Le Soir describes its editorial stance as "a progressive and independent daily newspaper."
