Today, Moon Nurseries is an employee owned and operated company producing over 40,000 trees and 350,000 container plants a year from their Maryland nurseries. [1] Over 50,000 trees and 400,000 container plants of new and old plant varieties are being sold and grown every year. The nursery has 365 greenhouses, all of which are 450 feet long.
The namesake catalog is printed on small, newspaper-like sheets and features "funky DIY photos". Other gardening catalogs operated include Audubon Workshop, Breck's, Gurney's Seed, Henry Field's, Iseli Nursery, Michigan Bulb, New Holland Bulb, Spring Hill Nurseries, and Weeks Roses, all of which have been acquired from buy-outs of other companies.

Joseph Breck (1794–1873) was born in Medfield, Massachusetts. [3] He founded his business, Joseph Breck & Company, in 1818, in Boston, Massachusetts. [4] From 1822 to 1846, Breck was the editor of the New England Farmer, one of the earliest agricultural magazines established in the United States, and the first of its kind in New England. [5]
