Ridin' the Storm Out is the third studio album by REO Speedwagon, released in 1973. It peaked at number 171 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1981, [ 1 ] and reached platinum status in 1989. It was the first album to feature Mike Murphy on vocals.
REO Speedwagon released their debut album, R.E.O. Speedwagon, in 1971. Ridin' the Storm Out was completed with Michael Bryan Murphy on lead vocal, and featured Doughty's "wailing storm siren" synthesizer intro on the title track. Murphy stayed for two more albums, Lost in a Dream (1974) and This Time We Mean It (1975), before Cronin returned in January 1976 and recorded R.E.O. , released in July of that year.
