The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series. The 2 Series was first launched as a 2-door coupé and convertible, both based on a rear-wheel drive platform.

The first generation of the coupé and convertible range of the BMW 2 Series subcompact executive car consists of the BMW 2 Series (F22) for the coupé version and BMW 2 Series (F23) for the convertible version. [7] [8] The exterior was designed by Nader Faghihzadeh, [9] [10] and the interior by Christian Bauer. [11] Unusually for BMW, the production version of the convertible was released before the coupé.
The second generation of the BMW 6 Series consists of the BMW E63 (coupe version) and BMW E64 (convertible version) grand tourers. The E63/E64 generation was produced by BMW from 2003 to 2010 and is often collectively referred to as the E63. The E63 uses a shortened version of the E60 5 Series chassis and subsequently shares many features.
