Re the comment on Jaguar's optimistic power output specifications, Jaguar's practice (at least during the '50s and '60s) was to state "gross" horsepower, i.e. power at the flywheel with no ancillaries (fan, alternator, power steering, gearbox, transmission etc.) driven and with non-standard exhausts, in accordance with US practice.
