The Cactus to Clouds Trail (C2C) is a hiking route in California.It begins in Palm Springs, California, and ascends to San Jacinto Peak.With a net elevation gain of roughly 10,300 feet (3,100 m), it has one of the greatest elevation increases among day-hike routes in the United States.
Of the most prominent summits of California, only Mount Whitney exceeds 3000 meters (9843 feet) of topographic prominence. Five peaks exceed 2000 meters (6562 feet), nine peaks are ultra-prominent summits with more than 1500 meters (4921 feet), and 35 peaks exceed 1000 meters (3281 feet) of topographic prominence.
Mount Watkins is located in Yosemite National Park, 2.72 miles (4.37 km) north of Half Dome, and 1.86 miles (3 km) northwest of Clouds Rest. [1] Precipitation runoff from this mountain drains into Tenaya Creek which is a tributary of the Merced River .
There are also trails throughout the range that support hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The town of Julian is on the north end of the range, and it offers its share of events and 19th century history. Nearby Julian is California Wolf Center, which is a conservation, education, and research center dedicated to wolf recovery in the wild.
Mount Baden-Powell is also the high point along The Silver Moccasin Trail, a historic 53-mile (85 km) Boy Scout hiking trail, which connects this summit to Mount Burnham (less than 1 mile (1.6 km) away), Throop Peak, and Mount Hawkins.
