The Nicholson–Rand House is a historic house located in Decatur Township, Marion County, Indiana, in Indianapolis.It was moved half a mile south by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana (HLFI) to save it from being demolished in 1997 and added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2003. Cottage Home is located on the near east side of Indianapolis. The neighborhood is bordered to the west by the Chatham Arch & Massachusetts Avenue Historic District, to the north by the Windsor Park neighborhood, to the east by Arsenal Technical High School and the Woodruff Place Historic District and to the south by the Holy Cross neighborhood.
The home was sold two years later to J.H. Trimble, who lived there until his death in 1937. It was purchased from his widow for $72,000. It served as residence for the governor from 1945 until the present mansion was purchased in 1973. The home was sold at an auction in 1973 to Robert L. Dawson, who in turn sold it to Dr. John C.
