2008 Father Judge wins the 2008 Philadelphia Catholic League Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships, at the outdoor meet coming within a point of the all-time team record for points scored. Father Judge Football also advances to the PCL final to face La Salle.
The classifications range from Class A (1A) to Class AAAAAA (6A). As of the beginning of the 2022-23 school year, the PIAA will have 95 A or (1A) class, 94 AA or (2A) class, 88 AAA or (3A) class, 92 AAAA or (4A) class, 98 AAAAA or (5A) class and 88 AAAAAA or (6A) class schools competing throughout the football season. The school is named for Father Thomas Augustine Judge (1868–1933), who organized lay missionaries in the northeastern United States. [4] Fr. Judge founded the congregation of sisters whose "motherhouse" is located next to the high school; these sisters then donated a portion of the land to the archdiocese on which the school was built.

The league originally consisted of three sports, one per season: Football in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Baseball in the spring. This was expanded in 1944 to include Cross-country in the fall, Wrestling in the winter, and Track in the spring. Currently, the schools are divided by size (Red/Large, Blue/Small).
Some students transferred to Father Judge High School, which had agreed to accept Northeast's financial aid packages. [7] Others transferred to Roman Catholic, Archbishop Ryan High School or Bishop McDevitt High School. [8] When Northeast Catholic High School closed in June 2010, all records were sent to Father Judge High School.
Roman has also succeeded in football. In the 2006 playoffs, Roman finished with a strong 9–3 record while losing to La Salle in the second round of the Catholic League playoffs. In 2007, Roman defeated Northeast Catholic and Father Judge en route to winning the Catholic League Championship, 10–9 over St. Joseph's Prep.
