Template:Country data Spanish Empire is an internal data container not intended to be transcluded directly. It is used indirectly by templates such as flag , flag icon , and others. This template is within the scope of WikiProject Flag Template , a collaborative effort to maintain flag templates on Wikipedia.
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used: {{ Spanish flags | state = collapsed }} will show the template collapsed, i.e. hidden apart from its title bar. {{ Spanish flags | state = expanded }} will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.
When foreign flags are used alongside the Spanish flag, the flags are sorted according to the countries' names alphabetically in the Spanish language. The only exception is when the congress or meeting held in Spain dictates a different language to be used for sorting. The flag of Europe has been hoisted since Spain became a member of the Union.
