The Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) is situated in Gazipur District, approximately 40 km (25 mi) north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is about 20 km (12 mi) away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Gazipur is well-connected by roads and railways with Dhaka and other major cities of Bangladesh.

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. SAU was established as Bengal Agricultural Institute (BAI) on 11 December 1938 by Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Huq, the chief minister of undivided Bengal. The Bengal Agricultural Institute was renamed East Pakistan Agricultural Institute in 1947.

Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University was established as an Agricultural Extension Training Institute (AETI) to award a three-year diploma in agriculture. The AETI was later upgraded to Hajee Mohammad Danesh Agricultural College in 1988 having an affiliation with the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
After liberation, the institute was recognized as the Bangladesh College of Leather Technology and was involved with diploma, certificate and artisan level education until 1979. The government introduced a graduate course in B.Sc. Engineering in Leather under the University of Dhaka with the 1979–1980 academic session.
