George P. Hoffman House is a historic home located at Blythewood, Richland County, South Carolina. It was built about 1855, and is a one-story, braced-frame Greek Revival style residence. The house consists of a central, five-bay block, flanked by three-bay wings. It features a pedimented porch that spans the three central bays of the façade.
In January 1970, Murrieta Hot Springs and the surrounding area, some 500 acres, was sold to Irvin Kahn, a San Diego attorney and real estate developer who had visited the spa as a child. The settlement began as a resort built around a hot spring. The springs were first identified in 1911, and the spa closed in 1959. [3] As was the case with Radium Sulphur Springs and Bimini Hot Springs elsewhere in Los Angeles County, [4] the waters of Seminole Hot Springs were "discovered" and then commercialized after oil drillers hit water instead of petroleum. c. 1855 John Fletcher Crabtree [3]. About 1875, John Fletcher Crabtree (1824-1915), and sons found the hot springs by following a well used Native American trail. The local Native Americans believed that the water had health-giving qualities, and Crabtree invited whites to the springs for these purported medicinal properties, many of whom had absolute faith in the springs as a cure-all.
