Ninjago focuses on a group of six teenage ninja, named Lloyd Garmadon, Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and Nya, and their wise sensei, Master Wu. The ninja team's purpose is to battle against the forces of evil, including Wu's brother, Lord Garmadon.

The pilot episodes introduce five of the show's six main teenage ninja characters named Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and Nya and their wise master, Sensei Wu that would remain the central characters of the series. The storyline focuses on the ninja team's efforts to stop the villainous Lord Garmadon from obtaining the four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu. [5]
Cole escapes with a baby believed to be the "key" to the final Oni Mask. The race starts, but Killow is called by Ultra Violet, who tells him that Snake Jaguar is a Ninja. The Sons of Garmadon attack Zane. Mr. E runs after Zane and as they approach a cliff, they jump off their bikes. Much to Zane's surprise, Mr. E is then revealed to be a Nindroid.
However, Zane realises it is a fake and that the real amulet was taken by Clutch Powers to the Explorers Club. [N 9] Wu, Cole, Misako, Kai and Ray arrive at the Explorers Club and are forced to battle Kalmaar. Meanwhile, Nya uses her powers to call whales to bring the stranded Hydro Bounty back to Ninjago City.

[N 14] Cole and the Upply arrive at the Skull Sorcerer's Keep and find the ninja locked into cages. The Geckles and Munce have been put back to work in the chain-gang, mining Vengestone. [N 15] Cole and his crew venture underground to fight the Skull Sorcerer. Cole confronts him with the Blades of Deliverance, but discovers that they are powerless.
