Roddy Bell Burdine [1] (October 14, 1886 – February 15, 1936) was an American businessman who owned the Burdines department store chain from 1911 to 1936. A leading citizen of Miami in the early 20th century, Burdine was the son of William Burdine, who founded Burdines as a dry goods store in 1898.
Burdines was shuttered in 2003 as Federated Department Stores (now Macy's, Inc.), the owners of both Macy's and Burdines, consolidated all its nameplates into the Macy's brand, which already had a location at the mall. In March 2006, Nordstrom opened at the former Burdines site instead. In October 2007, the mall underwent minor renovations.
