Submarine is a 2010 coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Richard Ayoade and starring Noah Taylor, Paddy Considine, Craig Roberts, Yasmin Paige and Sally Hawkins. It is based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Joe Dunthorne , and is an international co-production between the United Kingdom and the United States.
Submarine is the debut solo EP by English musician and Arctic Monkeys lead vocalist Alex Turner, released on 14 March 2011 by Domino Recording Company.It was written by Turner in 2009, on an acoustic guitar, at his New York City home.
Turner provided an acoustic soundtrack for the feature film Submarine (2010), which additionally served as his solo debut extended play (EP). He co-wrote and co-produced Alexandra Savior's debut album Belladonna of Sadness (2017).
Verneuil and Turner were first romantically linked in 2018, when they were spotted together while Arctic Monkeys were touring their Tranquillity Base Hotel & Casino album.
Alex's short film Chuck screened in over thirty film festivals. It was featured on the Sci-Fi Channel, [5] and won the Rod Serling award at the 2001 Long Island Film Festival. Turner's second short film, Disposal, starring JK Simmons, was broadcast on IFC and was shown as part of LACMA's 2004 Young Directors Night.
The film was met with high critical acclaim, and featured original songs by Arctic Monkeys front man Alex Turner. Submarine has won many awards worldwide, including the Best Screenplay award at the 2011 British Independent Film Awards.

Following the release of Humbug, film director and friend Richard Ayoade was directing a film adaptation of Joe Dunthorne's novel, Submarine. Ayoade chose frontman Alex Turner for the film's soundtrack, who composed six original tracks. [2] The band wanted to get into the studio straight after the tour ended, but did not have any new material.
