The original pavilion was destroyed by fire in 1903 but in 1905 a new one was built, halfway along the pier, and also a cafeteria and shops at the entry from the promenade. The pavilion offered a venue for dances and concerts. Cleethorpes Borough Council assumed ownership of the pier in 1936, [2] the year that the resort gained borough status.

Mississippi Highway 503 (MS 503) is a 41-mile-long (66 km) state highway in eastern Mississippi running from MS 528 near its junction with Interstate 59 (I-59) outside of Heidelberg to MS 15 in Decatur. The highway has been in existence since 1951 and became designated MS 503 by 1955.
Decatur is a town in and the county seat of Newton County, Mississippi. [2] The population was 1,945 in the 2020 census. This town is named after war hero Stephen Decatur Jr. [ 3 ]

The eastern terminus of the route is near the junction with SR 67 at Decatur, where it continues for 2 miles as Moulton Street. Moulton Street (without SR 24) ends east of US 31.
