Opry Mills is a single-level mall that contained over 178 stores, including Lionel Trains, GameStop, LEGO Store, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Forever 21, Gap Factory Store, H&M, IMAX, Madame Tussauds, Nike Factory Store, Movado Company Store, Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse, Old Navy Outlet Store, Regal Cinemas, and Sun and Ski Sports.
In its place, Opry Mills shopping mall was constructed and opened on May 12, 2000. On October 26, 2001, Gaylord Entertainment announced that its Opryland Hotels division (dba Opryland Lodging Group) would be renamed Gaylord Hotels, in advance of the Florida and Texas projects' completions.
Billed as the "Home of American Music", Opryland USA featured a large number of musical shows along with typical amusement park rides, such as roller coasters. The park was closed and demolished following the 1997 season. On its site was built Opry Mills, an outlet-heavy shopping mall, which opened in 2000.

In June 2008, the mall's website was changed from its Mills Corporation format to the Simon Malls format along with 16 other sister Simon-Mills malls. It was the last Simon-Mills mall to make the switch. It is one of three malls Simon owns in Arizona, with Phoenix Premium Outlets in Chandler and Tucson Premium outlets as the others. [10]
