Kurram District (Urdu: ضلع کرم) is a district in the Kohat Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The name Kurram comes from the river Kwarma ( Pashto : کورمه ) in Pashto , which itself derives from the Sanskrit word Krumu ( Sanskrit : क्रुमु ).
On 21 November 2024, gunmen attacked a large convoy of vehicles transporting Shia Muslims in the Kurram District of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing at least 54 people and injuring 86 others.
