His debut album,"The Hunting Road" was released through Vitamin Records on 5 September 2011. Irwin then went on to independently release his first EP 'Wasted' [3] in 2013, again with producer John Castle. This time however it was recorded at the newly built Pick and Mix Studios in the Dandenong ranges with musician and producer Ben Edgar.

Irwin performed the album for Superbloom: A Live Concert Film, which was performed on 30 October 2020, to celebrate the release of his first album. He performed all songs on the album as well as his cover of “Heart-Shaped Box” by Nirvana. A live album of the concert film, Superbloom: A Live Experience, was released on 20 November.

[146] With Calm earning the band their fourth consecutive number one in their home country, 5 Seconds of Summer became the second Australian band in history to have their first four full-length studio albums debut at number one on the ARIA albums chart.
