The Faculty of Economics at the University of Kragujevac is an educational and scientific institution in the city of Kragujevac.It was established as a department of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics on 1 October 1960 and became an independent higher education institution on 16 December 1975.

It is the historical centre of the geographical region of Šumadija in central Serbia, and is situated on the banks of the Lepenica River .
The Kragujevac massacre was the mass murder of between 2,778 and 2,796 mostly Serb men and boys in Kragujevac [a] by German soldiers on 21 October 1941. It occurred in the German-occupied territory of Serbia during World War II, and came as a reprisal for insurgent attacks in the Gornji Milanovac district that resulted in the deaths of ten German soldiers and the wounding of 26 others.
