Parque Colón, or Columbus Park, is the central square of the Ciudad Colonial historic district of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In its center stands a statue of Christopher Columbus , in whose honor the square was renamed in 1887.
The central public space of the district is Parque Colon, a square that borders the 16th-century Cathedral and has a late-19th-century bronze statue of Christopher Columbus in its center. East of Parque Colón, the cobblestone Calle Las Damas is the New World's oldest paved street, dating from 1502.
The 54.90-acre (22.22 ha) memorial park serves primarily as a cultural center and contains art galleries, a theater, and an amphitheatre. A museum, which details the history of the U.S.–Mexico border, is located inside the visitor center.
The Alcázar de Colón was built between 1510 and 1514. In 1509, Columbus himself became governor and viceroy of the colony. [2] The palace was constructed following the design of an existing structure in Mancera de Abajo, in Salamanca, Spain, of which ruins are still preserved.

The city of El Paso acquired the property on which the Plaza is located in 1881 from William T. Smith. Smith had bought the land from the heirs of its early owner, Juan Maria Ponce de Leon, a prominent El Paso figure, who had owned the spot since 1827. The square had since been the location of the corrals for de León’s ranch.

Temple San Ignacio de Loyola is a Catholic church building that is in El Paso, Texas. The current church was designed and executed from 1913 to 1922 by Gustavus A. Trost, of the Trost & Trost architectural and engineering company. The building is still in use, as of late 2023, and is part of the Diocese of El Paso.
