Rockport State Recreation Area is a 4,237-acre (17.15 km 2) state park located along the shore of Lake Huron in Alpena and Presque Isle counties in the state of Michigan, United States. It is operated by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and was established in 2012. The park contains limestone formations and an old limestone quarry.
Its name was changed in 1970 at the behest of the local citizenry who thought it appropriate for the park to honor the Ojibwe chieftain known to have hunted and camped in the area. [5] In 2016, Negwegon State Park, Thompson's Harbor State Park, and Rockport State Park were designated as Michigan "dark sky preserves."

The Tobico Marsh , one of the largest remaining freshwater, coastal wetlands on the Great Lakes is located in the park.

Rockport's surviving lime kiln area is located on the west side of Rockport Harbor, just below the mouth of the Goose River, in what has since been developed as Rockport Marine Park. The park includes seven different kilns, each built out of fieldstone with fired brick interiors.
