Margaret Mick (1 June 1860 – 25 May 1925) was Canada's first female peace officer to be killed in the line of duty. On the night of Monday, May 25, 1925 Mick, who worked as a Matron, was the only staff member on duty at the Toronto Municipal Jail Farm for Women in Concord, Ontario.

On December 11, 1962, Ronald Turpin was one of the two last people to be executed in Canada. [1] Turpin had been convicted of the murder of Metropolitan Toronto police officer Frederick Nash, 31. On 12 February 1962, Nash pulled Turpin over for a broken taillight while the latter was fleeing from a robbery. [ 2 ]
Tina Michelle Fontaine (1 January 1999 – c. 10 August 2014) [1] was a First Nations teenage girl who was reported missing and died in August 2014. [2] Her case is considered among the high number of missing and murdered Indigenous women of Canada, and her death renewed calls by activists for the government to conduct a national inquiry into the issue.
