Croatian Railways (Croatian: Hrvatske željeznice; abbreviated as HŽ) was the national railway company of Croatia. [1] It was a member of the International Union of Railways (UIC). The 1142 series reached a speed of 183.7 km/h on a prototype test run. This is still the Croatian speed record for any locomotive, since there are no official railway routes which allow for more than 160 km/h. This prototype is still in regular use today, with speed limited to production series levels.
HŽ series 7121 (Macosa) is a diesel multiple unit series of the Croatian Railways, consisting of a motor wagon and a trailer.These units are originally built by the factory Đuro Đaković from Slavonski Brod for "ŽTP Zagreb" (a Croatian division of Yugoslav Railways; JŽ) in the period between 1981 and 1986.
Croatian Railways also has cars jointly produced by the factories "Janko Gredelj" and "Boris Kidrič" in the mid-1980s, that were reconstructed and modernized in TŽV Gredelj between 2011 and 2012. Cars received air-conditioning, new side doors with automatic control, complete new interior, closed vacuum toilet system, etc.
The HŽ series 6111 is an electric multiple unit used by Croatian Railways (Croatian: hrvatske željeznice, HŽ), formerly the class JŽ 411 of ŽTP Zagreb during the period of Yugoslav Railways. The vehicles were built by Ganz Mávag , Hungary (production started in 1976). [ 1 ]

(2341 km; /1454.63 mi. of single-track corridors and 276 km / 171.49 mi. of double-track corridors). 1013 km (629.44 mi.) of railways are electrified, according to the annual rail network public report of Croatian Railways (2023 issue). The JŽ series 441 is an electric locomotive built for Yugoslav Railways.The units are now used by Hrvatske željeznice (HŽ series 1141), Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine, Željeznice Republike Srpske, Železnice Srbije and rail transport of TPP Nikola Tesla (ŽS 441), Makedonski Železnici, Turkish State Railways and Romanian Railways-CFR.
