Ancient DNA analysis of the mummies of Nakht-Ankh and Khnum-Nakht, found that the brothers belonged to the M1a1 mtDNA haplogroup with 88.05–91.27% degree of confidence, thus confirming the African origins of the two individuals. The presence of M1 in Africa is the result of a back-migration from Asia.

In 1932 when Windsor retired Senarath Paranavithana became the first Sri Lankan to be appointed as head of the Department. In 1935 Albert Henry Longhurst took over the role of Archaeological Commissioner and Paranavithana was his Epigraphical assistant.
Tomb of Vijaya (Sinhala: විජය සොහොන) is an ancient monument, situated on the hillock of Medagama Kanda, Panduwasnuwara DS in Sri Lanka. The monument site consists of a stupa shaped circular structure which is traditionally believed to be the tomb of King Vijaya (543–505 BCE), the first recorded ruler of Sri Lanka.
The vatadage is considered to be one of ancient Sri Lanka's most prolific architectural creations; this design represented a changing perspective of stupa design independently within the island.
