The university's inception can be traced to the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed al-Nayhan, the-then Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. Following three years of planning, the Abu Dhabi University was inaugurated in June 2003 [ 8 ] [ 9 ] and opened its doors to students in September 2003.
The Higher Colleges of Technology has 16 campuses across the UAE, with separate male and female campuses located in the cities of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Madinat Zayed, Ras Al Khaimah, Ruwais and Sharjah. Al Ain University (AAU) (Arabic: جامعة العين), formerly the Al Ain University of Science and Technology, is a private university with its main campus in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, and a satellite campus in Abu Dhabi. It was founded in 2004 by UAE's first President, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan.
