Jo Daviess County (/ ˈ d eɪ v ɪ s /) is the northwesternmost county in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 22,035. [1] Its county seat is Galena. [2] Jo Daviess County is part of the Tri-State Area and is located near Dubuque, Iowa and Platteville, Wisconsin.

William Rowley was born on February 8, 1824, in Gouverneur, New York, in St. Lawrence County, in northernmost New York.
