The 1996 GSX-R introduced a new twin-spar frame which was derived from Suzuki's RGV 500 GP racer. A new compact and lightweight engine incorporated magnesium covers on the cylinder head, starter motor, and clutch cover to aid weight reduction.
The 1996 GSX-R was a return to the original formula, with an emphasis on light weight, not just power. Weight was back down to an impressive 394 lb (178 kg). Even though later models also used the Suzuki Ram Air Direct system, GSX-R's from 1996 to 1999 became known as the SRAD models.
Outside the US market the GSX 750S Katana was completely restyled in 1984 sharing the same engine and 16" front wheel chassis of the ES. 1984 also saw the release of completely new GSX-R 750 signaled a new direction of race-replica sport bikes. The GSX range being relegated from the role of flag-ship models in the Suzuki range.

The Suzuki GSR750 is a 749 cc 16-valve in-line four motorcycle that was introduced in 2011 as a middleweight street-bike built with a 2005 GSX-R750 derived engine, which has been re-tuned for a more usable midrange at the expense of high end power. [1]
The early version of the engine was 1052 cc in capacity and with greater similarity to the 750 cc than later versions. The GSX-R1100's frame was somewhat stiffer than the frame on the GSX-R750 - the box section is noticeably thicker when compared side to side.
The first of the GS Series was the four-cylinder GS750 released alongside the GS400 parallel twin in November 1976. [2] (1977 Model Year).The GS750 engine was essentially patterned off the Kawasaki Z1-900, and became the design basis for all air-cooled Suzuki four-stroke fours until the release of the air-oil cooled GSX-R.
When the GSX-R entered development, Suzuki set a goal of 100 horsepower (75 kW) for a 750 engine and, due to known heat-related problems in high-power air-cooled engines, determined that air cooling alone would not be sufficient. Therefore, the SACS system was applied to the bike's design and was eventually carried over to all larger GSX-Rs.
