UDF 2457 is the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (UDF) identifier for a red dwarf star calculated to be about 59,000 light-years (18 kiloparsecs) from Earth [2] with a very dim apparent magnitude of 25. Astronomers used exposures taken by Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), installed in 2009, to assemble the eXtreme Deep Field snapshot in 2012. The object, located in the Fornax constellation, was identified by G. Illingworth (UC Santa Cruz), R. Bouwens (UC Santa Cruz and Leiden University) and the HUDF09 Team during 2009 and 2010.
