Prospero Sybico Amatong (October 18, 1931 – May 16, 2009) was a Filipino politician.Amatong served as the governor of Davao del Norte [1] from 1992 until 1998 and as a Congressman in the House of Representatives of the Philippines from 1998 until 2007.
Prospero Amatong, then incumbent governor of Davao del Norte province from which the new province of Compostela Valley was carved out, opted to serve as the first governor of the newly created province. He only served for one day because he resigned the following day and filed his candidacy for Congress.
