Each barangay consists of puroks and some have sitios. The proposal is still pending.
Named after a saint, Barangay San Roque was a forestal region before the colonizers founded settlements here. Early migrants, encouraged by the opening of agricultural tracts following the arrival of missionaries, built communities, among them Daang Cainta.

In 1973, the Cainta Municipal High School was established under Francisco P. Felix, the municipal mayor at that time. Initially the school employed five teachers from Rizal High School in Pasig who were housed in a twelve-room building in Parola, Barangay San Andres.
