"Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" is a song by American recording artist Kelly Clarkson and the title song from her fifth studio album, Stronger (2011). Originally titled as "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" , the song served as the album's second single on January 17, 2012, through RCA Records .

The album produced three singles. "Mr. Know It All" topped the charts in Australia and South Korea and attained top-ten positions in four countries, including the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" became the album's most successful release and Clarkson's most successful single overall.
Clarkson began writing songs as a teenager, and one of those songs, "Because of You," which she wrote at age 16, ended up on her second studio album, Breakaway. Beginning with her third album, My December , Clarkson started writing with her band, particularly with her longtime music director Jason Halbert and guitarist Aben Eubanks .
RCA Records later announced that the album's title would be Greatest Hits – Chapter One; the album was released on November 19, 2012, in the United States and was preceded by the release of "Catch My Breath" on October 16, 2012.
